At a time when the UK Government is rightly asking more from its Universities to help it deliver its ambitions, as set out in the Industrial Strategy, Lancaster University ran an event at the heart of Government to showcase its work in February 2019.

University representatives met with MPs, policy makers and industry leaders at the Houses of Parliament to demonstrate Lancaster University’s world-leading research and engagement programmes were aiming to have an impact.

The Work Foundation, alongside colleagues from ‘Imagination Lancaster’, the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation and the Health and Innovation Campus, were seeking to discuss how the University’s research could be more ‘responsive’ – and thus meet policy objectives to drive sustained growth. This covered a number of areas including, whether supporting high quality education, and lifelong learning, fulfil its role is a key anchor institution, strengthening local ecosystems, or more generally inspiring innovation and knowledge exchange.
