The Workshop

Much is said about the importance of recruiting the right people, with the right skills and the right values. But what happens when circumstances change and the employment deal fundamentally shifts?

The reasons for this shift can be varied – from as significant as an organisation faced with restructuring and the inevitable loss of staff, mergers and acquisitions, a new line manager or simply a re-working of the offer on the table. Once a deal is broken, can it be rebuilt? Or do we need to find better ways of managing through change that enables the employment deal to be sustained?

This event will revisit The Work Foundation’s deal framework, focusing on the fundamental principles of the employment relationship that underpin employee engagement. The event will provide evidence and examples on retention strategies, as well as the opportunity to hear a number of practical case studies from the public and private sector.

Some of the questions that will be asked include:

  • What is the impact on the ground of change and the resulting loss of staff?
  • What role should line managers be playing in this situation and what support do they need?
  • What retention strategies have worked and why?

Why should people attend?

The aim of this event is to provide our partners with insights to inform their own organisation’s practice and an opportunity to learn the views of others through a lively and provocative debate.

This event is exclusively for partners with The Work Foundation
and there is no fee to attend.
