Partner Employment Law Seminar: Looking Ahead to 2010
Thursday, 05 November 2009
09:00 - 13:00
The Work Foundation
The partnership team is pleased to announce that there is no longer a charge for partner organisations to attend our half day employment law seminars run by Olga Aikin CBE LLB Chartered FCIPD. This is now an integral part of the partnership package of benefits.
Who should attend?
HR professionals; and those with responsibility for internal employment policy; or an interest in keeping up to date with current and future legislation
Employment legislation is continually changing and becoming ever more complex and preparation is essential. This half day session will give an overview of the areas of legislation that employers will be most affected by over the next twelve months in order to help you prepare for the future and ask any questions you might have related to your organisation. The topics to be covered are:
The inflexible (or less flexible) workforce - How will new rules on agency and temporary and other workers inhibit flexibility? What are the implications for employers?
Equal pay – The Equality Bill has been brought in to strengthen the law and bring forward new measures to fight discrimination. What will this mean for employers and what of the changing attitudes of the courts?
Discrimination – For employers, the area of discrimination is becoming an increasing burden. Areas to focus on will include liability for harassment by third parties and positive discrimination.
Re-organisation and redundancy – When re-organising, employers need to be planning ahead to build flexibility into contracts. What structures are needed for dealing with redundancies? And how do employers make redundancy selections in a diverse workforce?
Family law – More rights for parents?
The ACAS code on discipline and grievance - Is it less demanding than the statutory procedures?
