Partner Workshop: The role of trust
Wednesday, 27 January 2010
08:30 - 11:00
The Work Foundation, 21 Palmer Street, London SW1H 0AD
08:30 for 09:00, light breakfast will be provided, 11:00 event ends.
This partner event will look at the role of trust in maintaining the employment relationship and mediating between HR practices and performance. How helpful are current definitions of trust and how can these be used to assist in the transition towards becoming a high trust organisation?
Although limited, the evidence base confirms the positive impact of higher levels of trust in organisations. The event will present evidence as explored in our second paper from the Future of HR programme before going on to stimulate a lively discussion around trust as a mediating factor, and also how the breakdown of trust following deal violation impacts on employee attitudes and behaviours.
This event will ask some of the following questions:
What is the role of trust as a mediating factor between HR practices and performance?
How helpful are definitions of trust in understanding how to move to a high trust organisation?
How can we conceptualise and measure trust in a way that is helpful to understanding its role in a healthy employment relationship?
What are the implications for reciprocity and mutuality as a key concept within the employment relationship if they are not underpinned by trust?
To what extent is trust undermined or supported by the use of techniques such as employer branding?
