Principal Partner Exchange Forum - HR and Ulrich: the end of the affair?
Wednesday, 24 February 2010
08:30 - 12:30
The Work Foundation, 21 Palmer Street, SW1H OAD
For many years, Dave Ulrich has been working to redefine the role of HR to ensure that it is an effective contributor of organisational success. Shared services, centres of expertise, and business partners have been the name of the game, but in practice, have organisations followed this model and if so, how successful have they been? Or have organisations been applying their own strategies around people management that have been more successful?
This session will revisit Dave Ulrich's evolving concept of the role of HR and assess how well his ideas have been put into practice and look at what the implications are for understanding the employment relationship. The objectives of the morning are as follows:
- To review Ulrich's theory on how HR should be structured
- To review how this theory has been implemented
- To critically assess the way HR is structured within participating organisations
- Implications of HR structure for leadership, line managers and employees
There will be an opportunity throughout the morning for questions and discussion. These sessions are highly interactive and delegates will leave with greater insights into other organisations and with ideas to inform decisions made within their own organisation.
