Budget 2014: Measures on investment and productivity poorly targeted

Angelo Evangelou

19 March 2014

Commenting on today's Budget, Ian Brinkley, chief economist at The Work Foundation, said:

“The Chancellor identified many of the key priorities around exports, investment and savings. The additional monies and announcement of degree-level apprenticeships was very welcome. But many of the measures to boost investment and productivity and create a more resilient economy were poorly targeted. More could have also been done to help the most disadvantaged groups in in the labour market who aren’t benefitting from the economic recovery.”
