Professor Geraint Johnes

Employer engagement in new joined up careers advice welcomed

Authors: Professor Geraint Johnes Director of The Work Foundation

10 December 2014

Commenting on today's statement by Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan, in the House of Commons on preparing young people for the world of work, Geraint Johnes, director at Lancaster University’s Work Foundation, said:

“Lancaster University's Work Foundation has been calling for such an arrangement for some time. Indeed, in our submission to the Chancellor in advance of the Autumn Statement, we called for 'additional funding for Local Transition Partnerships to co-ordinate local services, map pathways to work, and co-ordinate work experience, traineeships, apprenticeships, and information, advice and guidance'. We are delighted that this advice has been heeded, and we look forward to seeing the benefits that this joined-up approach will bring in future.
