Long-term pay deals in the public sector

Though predominantly a feature of the industrial relations landscape in manufacturing, long-term pay deals of two or more years are now common in the public sector. Deals vary in terms of the length of the agreement, the extent of the pay award and the number of 'strings' that can be attached around productivity, performance and modernisation of pay structures.
