Capitalism is not an end in itself. Its justification is that it is the best way devised so far to organise society and our economy so that most people can live lives they value. Properly structured good capitalism unleashes great wealth and opportunity. But in 2012 the system, breaking down for the previous thirty years, has begun openly to disintegrate.
