Our Submission to Education Select Committee's call on apprenticeships and traineeships for 16 - 19 yrs olds

Our Submission to Education Select Committee's call on apprenticeships and traineeships for 16 - 19 yrs olds

18 November 2014

This submission looks at the effectiveness of apprenticeships and traineeships for 16-19 year olds, including in terms of meeting employer needs in various sectors, and providing young people with a solid foundation for employment in general or in particular occupations or for further study.

It draws upon the Missing Million research programme on youth unemployment, in particular these reports:

The Road Less Travelled

The Gender Jobs Split

Lost in Transition: The changing labour market and young people not in employment, education or training

It draws also upon Martyn Sloman's black paper on NEETS and apprenticeships, (Training Journal 2014) Read the related blog here
