The recession was predicted to impact on cities specialised in financial services, those with middle class populations and those in the South. None of these predictions came true. Instead, the impact of the recession has been felt in cities with low skills and those outside of the South. Where areas specialised in financial and business services have been impacted, it has been outside the South East.
