Dr Maria Kordowicz

Psychologist and Qualitative Organisational Research Specialist

Maria is a Chartered Psychologist and Management Consultant, specialising in qualitative service evaluation and organisational wellbeing. Maria has been carrying out independent organisational development and research consultancy work on behalf of public, private and third sector clients for over 15 years. At the core of Maria’s consultancy work, is her firm belief that organisational success is found in creating working environments which nurture workers’ psychological health.

Maria is a Health Services Researcher and Programme Lead for the MSc in Public Health at the School of Population Health and Environmental Sciences, King’s College London and lectures in aspects of leadership and management in organisations. She is also Visiting Lecturer in Health and Business Psychology at the University of Westminster and teaches Operations Management at Birkbeck. Previously, Maria was Senior Lecturer in Business and Healthcare Management at Anglia Ruskin University.

Maria is part of the King’s College London development team of the idiographic mental health outcome measure PSYCHLOPS. Her academic research interests concern mental health and the governance and policy of new health and social care organisational forms, as well as large scale NHS transformation. Maria’s PhD, an ethnographic exploration of poor performance in general practice, was awarded an Emerald Group Publishing Outstanding Doctoral Research Award in Healthcare Management. Maria is a member of Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Services Research Network.

Previously, Maria spent over a decade managing NHS programmes, projects and services, with her last interim position as Senior Project Manager, leading on workforce restructure across a Division at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Maria is Principal Practitioner with the Association for Business Psychology and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
