Professor Peter Totterdill

Peter Totterdill is a Director of Workplace Innovation Europe, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of better ways of working through research, the dissemination of good practice, policy advocacy and practical consultancy. He is a passionate advocate of organisational practices that combine high performance and high quality of working life.

His work was highly influential in shaping and informing the concept of workplace innovation and he has advised the European Commission and several national and regional governments on strategy and the design of policy measures. On behalf of the European Commission he helped to build EUWIN, a Europe-wide movement in support of better ways of working. Peter is also co-founder of Fresh Thinking Labs, the online and in-person platform for knowledge exchange between companies.

Peter’s knowledge of innovation practices at enterprise level is wide ranging, based on successive research and action research projects over more than a quarter of a century, as well as his experience of facilitating and advising on change in large, medium-sized and small enterprises. He is currently delivering the Workplace Innovation Engagement Programme on behalf of Scottish Enterprise with a diverse cluster of ten companies.

Peter is a highly experienced communicator and speaks frequently at conferences and seminars to enterprises, trade unions, policy makers and researchers throughout Europe and beyond. He has published several articles, chapters and research papers.

Peter maintains close academic links with universities across the UK and Europe, and especially through his roles as Visiting Professor at Kingston University London and at Mykolas Romeris University Vilnius.
