Diversity and Inclusion Specialist

Simon Fanshawe is co-founder of Diversity by Design – one of the leading consultancies in the UK in supporting effective action to change the diversity numbers for organisations and to develop the widest range of talent in businesses. To this end he developed proprietary DbD INSIGHT tools to enhance the power of staff engagement programmes.

In a diverse career spanning 30 years he has been an award-winning comic – Perrier Award 1989; a feature writer and columnist for the Sunday Times Culture, Guardian, Financial Times, Telegraph, Time Out; a broadcaster and radio and TV documentary maker for the BBC; and an entrepreneur at B&H Local Radio and at Midnight Communications, a PR company.

He was co-founder of Stonewall – one of the most successful lobbies for change in gay rights; he is a board member of Housing and Care 21, of Brighton Festival, of POWERful Women, of the Museum of London and was Chairman of the University of Sussex for 6 years and of Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership for 10.

Simon was born in Devizes, Wiltshire on Boxing Day 1956, educated at Marlborough College and Chafyn Grove School and studied Law at the University of Sussex. He is married to Adam and lives in Brighton.
