Against the backdrop of the General Election,The Work Foundation held a reception to bring together parliamentarians, policy-makers, employers, patients, health professionals and NHS managers to urge them to make 2010 the year of action in tackling ill-health in the workplace and delivering positive changes on the ground. Amongst those who attended were Dr Steve Boorman (Royal Mail - pictured), Professor Sayeed Khan (EEF - pictured right), Dr Bob Grove (Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health) and Dr Paul Litchfield (BT).
The Work Foundation has been researching the interrelationship between health and work over a number of years, with a specific focus on identifying the economic and social burden of ill-health such as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and mental health conditions. The aim of our research has been to support policymakers, employers and healthcare professionals with powerful evidence upon which to drive real improvements in the working life of people in the UK. At the reception we launched our latest report: Spondyloarthropathy and Work: A review of UK evidence.
