Concerns expressed about recession on knowledge economy - 22 Apr 2009
Delegates heard Liberal Democrats’ Treasury Spokesperson Vince Cable highlight a number of specific concerns in relation to the knowledge economy and the recession.
Protection of intellectual property was a key concern highlighted, along with the current situation affecting the post-16 FE sector, which Cable described as a “serious mess” following the recent crisis at the Learning and Skills Council.
Meanwhile, the Work Foundations’s Ian Brinkley, Knowledge Economy Programme Director, called for a “post recession knowledge economy strategy” with the next public spending review, which he said was needed “to establish clear long term priorities with as wide as possible stakeholder and political support.”
