The event in detail

Partner Workshop: What makes a truly exceptional leader? Results and reflections from the latest leadership research.

Who should attend?
Directors of Strategy, Directors of HR or OD, Senior Managers and all those with a keen interest in the future of leadership practice.

The workshop:
This is an opportunity to hear the findings from the first stage of our ground breaking research into how leaders affect those around them and contribute to effective teams and organisations. Using the experiences of leaders in some of the UK’s top companies we have explored leadership from the perspectives of the leaders themselves, their own managers, their direct reports and their measured performance to understand how their beliefs and their practice of leadership make a difference.
We will also briefly explore the question ‘how good is good enough’? No-one is the ideal leader. But, just how good do leaders have to be to be judged exceptional by their peers? And how close are they to the ideal we have identified in the research?
Speakers:

  • Penny Tamkin, Associate Director at The Work Foundation (Leadership Programme)
  • Gemma Pearson, Researcher, The Work Foundation
  • Sid Cox, Director B2B, Energy Sourcing & Customer Supply, EDF Energy

Why you should attend:
Join us to hear the latest ideas, personal reflections and results from our ambitious project into Leading for High Performance, as well as partaking in some lively discussions with a community of likeminded professionals.
