What is the role of employment, skills and economic development policy in realising the opportunities within key growth sectors? Professor Anne Green, Dr Paul Sissons and Dr Neil Lee will give their perspectives on this issue as part of the Work Foundation’s Autumn Event Series in partnership with Lancaster University Management School.

The session discusses results from an Economic and Social Research Council funded project – Harnessing growth sectors for poverty reduction – supported through the What Works in Tackling Poverty programme. The research included secondary data analysis across all sectors and focused more particularly on Financial and professional services; Manufacturing; Energy and environment; Construction; Social care; and, Accommodation and food services. The emphasis of the session will be on policies and practices for more inclusive employment outcomes, focusing on employment entry, in-work progression and job quality. The session will also draw important insights and case study examples from international programmes as well as drawing on the UK experience.

Following initial presentations, we will open up the debate, providing an opportunity for you to interact with speakers and other delegates via a Q&A session and discussion.
